Cut Policy

We, the lacrosse coaches at Waccamaw High School, will give the opportunity to any student to play for the lacrosse team.  Our cut policy will be two-fold- Effort and Character.

The WHS student athlete will show, to the best of their ability, effort in the classroom and on the athletic field.  The student athlete may be dismissed from the team if they do not apply themselves in the classroom.  Two or more complaints from a single teacher regarding tardiness, behavior, or incomplete/late assignments may lead to the dismissal of the student athlete.

If the student athlete has continuous (2 or more) unexcused absences from practice or games they may be dismissed from the team.

An excused absence is an illness of self or family, death in family, prior commitment to school activity, or religious obligation.

The WHS student athlete shall carry themselves as an upstanding citizen in the classroom, on the field, and in the community. Student athletes shall follow all guidelines of the WHS Student Behavior Code.  The student athlete who has continual behavioral issues in the classroom, community, or on the field may be dismissed from the team.

Each participant will be evaluated on athletic criteria such as coachability, speed, quickness, agility, and skill.  Any student athlete who is cut will be informed of what he needs to improve upon to better his chances on making the team the following year.
