I am entering year 28 of teaching.

I began my career in Texas, where I taught middle school Speech, Theatre, and English for six years. Following that, I moved to Stillwater, Minnesota, where I taught high school English and coached competitive speech for three years.  My next stop was Colorado, where I taught a variety of Competitive Speech, Theatre, and English classes for nine years.  This is my eleventh year with Georgetown County School District; I have been at Waccamaw for eight years and was previously at Carvers Bay.

I was born and raised in rural North Dakota. I did my undergraduate work in Minnesota, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with majors in Theatre Arts, Speech, and English.  My teaching career has taken me to Texas, Minnesota, Colorado and South Carolina. There have been times when I have exclusively taught Theatre, or English, or Speech . . . but it seems I am most frequently found doing a combination of the three.  The most consistent element of my career is that I have coached speech everywhere I have taught.

My career has focused on teaching, with early stints in both professional directing and professional acting.  I quickly found out that I am a person who likes the safety net of a contract!

My husband has been Executive Chef at Pawleys Island Tavern for the past ten years, so we are community connected.  This year, however, he has changed careers and will be teaching art at Andrews Elementary. Now there are two teachers in the house, and two musicians. We have one son who is 19 and beginning at Morris County Community College in New Jersey this fall.  My major interests are playing bass guitar, creating folk art, riding my Harley, and walking on the beautiful beach at Pawleys.
